The Story
Hotel Donna Francesca belongs to the family Conti Moroni whose documented origins date back to the 14th century. Around the mid-1500s, the family increased its fortunes and in 1636 Francesco Moroni and his wife Lucrezia began the construction of Palazzo Moroni, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture that is still owned by the family today. In the early 1800s, Count Alessandro transformed a former country house into today's neoclassical Villa Moroni in Stezzano, which is currently owned by Count Piero.
Over the centuries, the family increased its fortunes by dedicating itself to mulberry tree cultivation and silkworm breeding: indeed, the family coat of arms depicts a mulberry tree.

In the 1950s, Count Carlo Moroni, a cavalry officer, married Francesca Signorini one of the owners of Hotel Flora on Via Veneto and moved to Rome. Today, this branch of the family still dedicates itself to farming on their farm in Sabina, about 40 km from Rome, where they produce cheese, cold cuts, and extra virgin olive oil, as well as to the two boutique hotels Relais donna Lucrezia and Hotel donna Francesca run by the daughters of Count Alessio, Lucrezia and Francesca.
For the newly renovated Donna Francesca a different colour was chosen for each room, giving each room and bathroom a unique and original character. The renovation was completed using furniture from the family's private collection, retaining its historical charm without foregoing the comfort of what distinguishes a small luxury hotel.
